IQT user base expands
14/10/2005
Over 25 instruments throughout Europe
With more than 25 Ignition Quality Tester’s (IQT) now in service throughout nine European countries, the many operational advantages and efficiencies are clearly benefiting many users, ranging from Refining and Third party test laboratories to Research and Military applications.
7 key European refineries are utilising the IQT in day to day operations, with several operating instruments on a 24 hour 3 shift basis. In excess of 75 trained operators support this activity throughout the EU, and determining a Cetane Number is no longer a highly skilled task. In one refinery alone up to 17 different operators are individually able to run tests on shifts, 24 hours a day. This truly is a major benefit for the multi tasking busy laboratory of today.
European servicing is backed up by a growing team of specialists, currently 14 persons, who have all completed Advanced Maintenance Training Courses. Specialists “on call” are centrally located in the UK, Holland, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Hungary.
UK based training courses are fully booked for the remainder of 2005, with more planned, which will provide additional service capability in Holland, Germany, Belgium, and Scandinavian countries.
Ex-stock parts availability has been an objective from the beginning, and a significant stock of spares is held in the UK by Stanhope-Seta - available for next day despatch.
IQT’s are proving to be highly robust in high usage applications with the longest service interval extending to 20 months in a 2 shift refinery operation, and in that instance completing 1600 tests prior to a major overhaul. The average service interval is typically 12 to 14 months with a number of users opting for annual maintenance contracts.
During the coming months new installations are scheduled in France, Italy, Germany, and Finland.
