Fast & accurate vapour pressure testing

Setavap 2 will minimize costs for your organisation by providing low cost fast and accurate vapour pressure measurement. Many global fuel companies are now adopting the Setavap 2 ‘Mini’ method because of cost-saving advantages offered over traditional RVP tests, including reduction in product ‘give-away’ through greater measuring accuracy, a simple and automated test procedure with less sample waste and disposal costs.

Setavap 2’s precise test result is assisting refineries and fuel producers to optimise fuel blending, whilst the instrument’s compact and portable design are now a favoured means of testing vapour pressure of gasoline throughout the fuel distribution chain.

Setavap is the new industry recognised standard equipment providing an alternative to the laborious RVP (Reid) test procedure (ASTM D323) which has been traditionally specified for the determination of vapour pressure of gasolines. It conforms to ASTM D5191, EN13016-1, IP 481 and equivalent test methods. These new mini methods are fully referenced in the fuel specifications EN228 and ASTM 4814.

It is easy and fast to use, a test takes less than 4 minutes and results do not rely on operator input. The test requires just 3 ml of sample which is injected through a septum into a vacuum chamber under a controlled test temperature of 37.8oC (100oF). The pressure inside the chamber is automatically monitored and once it has stabilised, the resulting 'vapour pressure' is displayed. The sample is automatically discharged and ready for the next measurement. It really is that simple!

The Setavap 2 incorporates an evacuated chamber which guarantees that the sample is tested under full vacuum as mandated by the test method. This has significant benefit over alternative ‘expansion’ test equipment which use mechanical pistons that cannot guarantee to create the perfect vacuum or stable result. Setavap 2 can!
